This
delightful new cottage is cheerful and bright - just like its owner
who, along with her sister, is a famous traditional Irish fiddle
player. She is away on tour for long periods so she frequently
offers
her
home to lucky holiday renters.

The
cottage, down a private, wooded lane, directly faces Barnadearg Bay and
has views of the Twelve Bens mountain range. It is a silent and
still place except for the birdsong. Each time we've visited it's
been a glorious
sunny day and we didn't want to leave. No matter what the
weather, we think you'll feel the same way.
|
| You enter
into a short vestibule and thento a 2-story red-walled octagonal
hallway.
The living room is on the right of this
hall. It has a very comfortable black leather sofa and two
matching
easy chairs. There's a gas stove in the fireplace, a wood floor,
a TV
and DVD player and very nice art done by local artists. Windows
look over the
lawn and
to the bay. |

|
The
dining room has a beautiful table and six leather chairs.
French doors open to the back of the property where there's a patio and
outdoor furniture.
The
kitchen is great. It has a classic 6-burner stove with a double
oven, very nice custome-made ash cupboards, a tall
refrigerator/freezer, a dishwasher
and a tiled floor. It's very
spacious and bright., not fussy, young and spiffy. You can
look up from the kitchen to the loft
railing that's part of the upstairs music room. An
adjacent large utility
room has a
washer, dryer and an additional freezer.
| There are
three bedrooms on the main floor and all are bright and
pretty. One bedroom has a double
bed, a wood wardrobe and a
chest of drawers. Another bedroom has twin beds, a
wardrobe and a narrowchest of drawers. Both bedrooms have a view
of the
water. These two bedrooms share a hallway bathroom that has a
long, deep
tub and a separate shower stall. |

|
At the
end of the hall, the third downstairs bedroom has a queen bed with a
white
duvet and a wine chinelle blanket, a contemporary dressing table, a
wardrobe and a chest of drawers. This room looks
out onto the grassy area and trees behind the cottage. The en
suite
bathroom has a large corner shower stall.
The front
hall has stairs that go up to the master bedroom suite. The
first room of the suite is for listening to music. There is a
black
leather
sofa, a coffee table, beige carpeting, two Velux skylights, a music
system and a large and varied CD
collection (handle with care!). You can look down into the
kitchen over the wood railing (that's the photo on the right).
The master bedroom, just off the music room, is lovely, serene and
very private. It has a queen bed with a duvet and a beautiful
chinelle blanket, an
armoire, a chest of drawers and well-chosen Irish art. Windows
open onto
the water view and the sky. What a peaceful space. The
large en
suite bathroom has a shower stall.
Children are warmly welcomed here. The owner has a baby's cot and
high chair for you to use. Dogs are
not allowed. This is a strict non-smoking property.
| The bay
is in the distance looking toward Letterfrack.
Pretty Letterfrack village is 2 kilometers from the cottage. It
has
two excellent restaurants and three pubs (all non-smoking) that
offer traditional Irish music.
There are daily boat rides that go out into the harbour
from Letterfrack pier during the summer months.
Nearby Rossleague Manor hotel has
a fine restaurant and bar. Avoca Hand Weavers craft shop is a
short walk down the road. It's a 10-minute drive (9 kilometers)
into the bustling village of Clifden where there are many fine
restaurants and
great shopping. |

|
The
spectacular Connemara National Park is two
kilometers from the property. There are walking paths and hiking
and an interpretive center and a nice little cafe. It's a "must
do". Kylemore Abbey is 5 kilometers - that the Abbey in the photo
to the left. It has a long and interesting history and beautiful
gardens. It's open every day.
It's a few minutes' drive to the fishing village of Cleggan from where
you can make day trips to Inishbofin Island. The closest of
several area beaches is Ross Beach, 10 minutes by car from the
cottage. Scuba diving and horse riding are other activities in
the immediate area. There are
many
incredible ancient sites within a few miles of the cottage.
The Connemara is a walker's paradise. Baunoges, on the road to
Cregg, has some very
interesting and beautiful walking.
Considered an easy climb, you can, from the top,
see as far as Roundstone in one direction and Achill, in County Mayo,
in the
other. For the more ambitious walker, there is nearby Diamond
Mountain, 2 kilometers from the cottage, which has a new path that has
stunning views as far as Croagh Patrick in the north and the Burren in
the south. We know a world-famous guide who will take you on
hikes and walks that you will remember forever. |
