We
stayed in this house during horribly stormy weather: the sea was
frantic,
the wind was harsh and the rain pounding. The next morning,
everything
glistened. The sea had calmed and we stood on the deck admiring
the
views of water and sky. It is a home in which to experience
nature’s
moods. |

This
house, built in 1902, is all about the sea. It is a
long, thin building designed to take maximum advantage of the gorgeous
views. It's not a grand house, but it is one of our favorite
houses on our web site.
It’s hard to describe the room arrangement as it’s not a typical design. Rooms open into other rooms along the shoreline. It is a relaxed and welcoming home. You enter a wide hallway from which you can look straight ahead, through the hall, through the kitchen, over the deck and to the sea. It’s a fine welcome. |

The modern kitchen/dining room has a center island that's used for storage and serving. A whimsical wave motif runs along one wall, above the stove. There is a cooker, a large refrigerator-freezer, a microwave, dishwasher and ample counter space and storage. The dishes and other kitchenware are attractive and high quality. The pine and tile dining table seats 6. It has the perfect vantage point for enjoying the gorgeous views. A French door opens directly onto the wood deck which runs the entire length of the sea side of the house. |

Two
more bedrooms are on the other side of the hallway. One has a
standard double bed with a floral cover, excellent storage and nice
touches. It has views
of the sea and the grassy garden along side the house.
The
other
bedroom has a standard double bed with a crisp cotton cover, excellent
storage, a small sink. This bedroom looks onto the road.
The
large
hallway bathroom has a tub with shower-over-tub.

At
the end of the bedroom hallway is a door that opens to rather steep
stairs that go
down to the grassy area and then to the protected sandy cove that's
just below
the house. From there, one can wander the beaches, some sandy,
some
pebbly.

Myrtleville is a pretty village near larger villages; namely, Crosshaven and, a bit inland, Carrigaline. Kinsale, called the gourmet capital of the south, is nearby, as is the bustling, beautiful city of Cork. Swimming, golf, deep sea fishing are all readily available. Cork
is 10 miles. Shannon is 92 miles. Dublin is 175 miles.
