| Accommodates 10 5 bedrooms 4 bathrooms This
delightful property was, from 1925 until 1985, a 4-classroom community
school, St.
Brendan's. The present owners recently bought it and spent a year
restoring it. Now a
stylish contemporary house with lots of light and beautiful views, its
red exterior retains the aura of a school and the generations of
children who attended it.

The two original front doors reveal how the building was originally divided for boys and girls, with walls separating the front yard, the entrance hall and even the playground. The two halves of the inside of the Schoolhouse are now fused into a spacious and interesting floor plan. Cleverly, many of the original features of the Schoolhouse have been preserved and integrated into the comfortable contemporary design. | ![]() |

Upstairs, there is a balcony area that looks
down onto the dining area. It is cozy and private, nice for reading
on a rainy day.
There are two more bedrooms upstairs. They are separated by a bridge or long balcony that overlooks the entry area and other parts of the main floor. It's quite dramatic and very nice. |

The
Schoolhouse is in a tiny village in rolling green hills. It's by
the
side of a quiet country
road and there are no other houses nearby. The pretty local
church is
nearby - you can see the lights of
the
church from the Schoolhouse's patio. The sea is a 15-minute
walk.
Nearby attractions include walking, cycling, horse riding, sea and lake fishing, golf (one course overlooks picturesque Clew Bay). There are several excellent leisure centres with pools & fully equipped gyms. Restaurants, pubs and live music abound in the pretty village of Westport. There are many historical sites, museums, gardens and country houses. |
This
property is suitable
for guests who have moderate mobility limitations. The main
downstairs bedroom could accommodate a small wheelchair and a small
wheelchair would fit in the main floor bathroom's shower stall.
The
other ground floor bedrooms are rather small for a wheelchair.
