| Accommodates
4-6 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms
This terrific 100-year
old traditional Irish cottage, nestled against a hill facing Mount
Brandon, has been
enlarged and renovated by local
craftspeople using native materials. The tone of the cottage remains although
the space and comfort level have been greatly improved. The
cottage is designed to take full advantage of the magnificent
views. |

The
front door opens into an open-plan sitting room and kitchen. The
sitting room area
has two
comfortable leather sofas, a TV and DVD player.
The stone gable wall frames a wood stove.
A warm, colorful rug is underfoot. The floor here and throughout the cottage
are wide-beam
oak. French
doors open onto the
terrace where you can enjoy views of the craggy mountain - and sheep
and sometimes
donkeys, too.

The downstairs bathroom has a
large shower. The
bathroom floor is paved with pebbles inspired by the local beaches.
The large and open dining room has a pine table to seat 8 comfortably. A floor-to-ceiling window looks out to the back hillside and French doors open to the back patio. A second sitting room, off the dining room, has a leather sofa, a fireplace with a hand-crafted wood mantle. This is a perfect place for reading or contemplation. Local art and craft add grace and charm to these delightful rooms. |

The floor of the south-facing
patio is made from
stone quarried nearby. It's a quiet sunny space that's backed by
stone
walls. Steps lead to the large, gently sloping back lawn that's
bordered
by
trees. The
patio has garden furniture and some sun loungers. There's
also a small barbecue.

Upstairs, there are 3 bedrooms
and 1
bathroom. In the
tradition of cottage bedrooms, they
are
rather small, but very cozy. The rooms are painted in soft,
natural colors with white woodwork and country curtains that complement
this color scheme. There is local art on the
walls of each bedroom. The stairs and upper floor have
harvest-toned carpeting.
One bedroom has a queen bed, bedside cupboards and reading lamps, an antique pine side table and mirror and white built-in cupboards. Large windows overlook Mount Brandon. You can lie in bed in the morning and view the beautiful mountains. |

The second bedroom has twin
beds, bedside cupboards and reading lamps, built-in closets and a
full-length
mirror built into one of the closets. Windows overlook the
mountains
and an ancient ring
fort in a nearby field.
The third bedroom has a standard double bed, two bedside cupboards and reading lamps, a table and mirror and built-in closets. One window overlooks the mountain and field next door, often home to one or two friendly donkeys. |

The
upstairs bathroom has a tub and a shower over tub.

The cottage is at the end of a
small country lane where more sheep pass
by
the house than cars. It is on the side of a hill facing the
spectacular Mount Brandon, the largest mountain on the Dingle
Peninsula. It is 8 minutes by car to terrific Dingle town and 5
minutes
to
several beautiful
beaches. Carrig village is 3 minutes by car and one can walk to it as
well. There is an
abundance of
mountain
walks starting from the front door. There are many
archaeological
sites nearby.
Children are warmly welcomed here. As this is a sheep grazing area, dogs are not permitted. |

Although there are three bedrooms, the
cottage is rather small for 6
people. It can be done, but 4 or 5 people might be best.
