This is a great apartment. It’s been imbued by the owners with a warm and welcoming aura. It’s comfortable and it’s convenient to everything you’d want to do in Edinburgh.

It is on the third floor and there is no lift. That’s the bad news. The good news is that, assuming you can manage stairs, it’s well worth the climb. We have stayed here and we thought it was.

Luxury Edinburgh Penthouse Apartment Vacation Rental

Once up in the apartment, the kitchen is on the left. It’s is modern and quite snazzy. It has white marble floors with a black granite Charles Rennie Mackintosh-style border. Top-of-the-line Bosch appliances, including a double electric oven, a gas hob, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer, provide convenience and luxury. A microwave, Le Creuset pans, crystal, china and cutlery are carefully chosen - and they haven't forgotten the coffee percolator! The kitchen has a sliding glass door opening onto a small balcony which has rooftop views of Edinburgh.

The living/dining room has two beautiful modern Italian leather sofas a matching ottoman, a glass-topped coffee table, paintings by Scottish artists, cable TV, VCR, hi-fi, a DVD player and a selection of DVD’s. Two window walls look onto roof-top views. A beautiful Danish custom made etched glass dining table seats 10.

The large master bedroom has a custom-made Swiss queen bed, a very nice chest of drawers and a large closet. This is the largest bedroom and it’s spacious and very comfortable. The en suite tiled bathroom has a large shower and coral mosaic tiles.

Another bedroom has brushed steel twin beds that can convert to a king bed. The owner provides a king-size duvet and fitted bottom sheet when the beds are joined. There is a chest of drawers and a large closet.

The third bedroom has cherry and oak twin beds that can also be converted to a king bed. There is a chest of drawers and a wardrobe. This is the smallest of the three bedrooms, but it is still very nice.

The hallway bathroom has a deep tub and shower over tub, black wall tiles, black granite counter tops and grey marble floor tiles. Very nice.

Built on the original site of The Royal Botanical Gardens, the penthouse is walking distance to almost everything in the city. There are restaurants, pubs, shopping, the Playhouse Theatre and a multi-screen cinema. Leith Walk, a beautiful area that connects the waterfront to the city centre, is two blocks from the property. Princes Street is a 10 - 15 minute walk. It’s a 15-minute walk to the Royal Mile/Old Town area where there are many shops, a museum and Edinburgh Castle.

Children are warmly welcomed here. A baby’s cot and high chair are available. There is free parking for one car. There is a security alarm in the flat. We know for certain that the high speed internet access works for PC's running WIndows XP or 2000. Smoking is prohibited except on the balcony.

ACCESSIBILITY NOTICE:

There are two flights of stairs to the front door and then another flight of stairs within the penthouse. All have sturdy banisters. The owner, who has mobility limitations, built sturdy hand rails on both sides of the interior stairs. The master bedroom has a shower cubicle. Parking is adjacent to the building.

2007 WEEKLY PRICES The Edinburgh Festival, all of August, books far in advance. Heating and electricity are included. A mobile phone is available for a £15 per week rental cost. A damage/security deposit of £350 is held by credit card.
