| This
little gate house, one of the most charming gate houses we’ve seen, is
the perfect romantic get-away. It is warm, beautifully restored
and
totally comfortable. Located at the entrance gate of a large estate, the cottage is private. The small country road is not well traveled so the traffic is not a concern. It is very quiet here. |

You enter into the slate-floored kitchen. It has a maple counter and a sink, small refrigerator, a hob, a microwave with a grill, but no real oven. The pine cupboards hold pretty, high quality dishes. There is a table for food preparation and a mahogany Pembroke drop leaf dining table with two chairs.

The
bedroom has white walls and green and cream colored Toile
fabric. There is a deep window sill and other nice architectural
touches. Five Dutch engravings adorn one wall. The marble bathroom has a shower. |
The small sitting room is very stylish and cozy. There’s a fine old table behind the gold easy chairs, a sofa facing the fireplace, wonderful art, 10 years’ worth of Country Life Magazine. French doors lead to the private stone terrace and the shade garden. A gravel pathway leads to the larger gardens and the “quintessential Irish rural views” of meadows and water.

The
phone is connected to the main house, but the owners are very gracious
about phone use. Of course, it might be more convenient for you
if
you bring your mobile phone. |

Dublin is 39 miles.
ACCESSIBILITY NOTICE:
This
little cottage is an excellent choice for anyone with moderate mobility
limitations. There are no steps into the house or inside the
house.
The bathroom does not have grab bars. The doorways can
accommodate
a small wheelchair.

Heating & electricity are extra, charged at cost by meter readings. A refundable security deposit of € 80 is payable on arrival. |
