This is a fabulous castle. You’ll know from your first turn into the grounds that you are going to have an extraordinary experience. The Tower dates from 1570, was rebuilt in 1884 and was recently completely renovated. It now combines 21st century decor and luxury with the charm and authenticity of a historic castle.

We were greeted by Yuri, the estate manager, whose warmth and hospitality showed us that you will be taken care of to your heart’s content. We stepped into a large square entry hall that has large sandstone tiles on the floor.

A reception room, down a few steps, has fine Oriental rug and Scottish antiques. Incredible ancient standing stones and stone fragments are serious archeological specimens. The front hall and reception rooms are frequently used as a recital hall. Guests sit in the reception hall and watch musicians who perform in the entry area.

The gorgeous dining room can seat 20 comfortably. It has an ornate ceiling, sandstone tile floors, a fireplace, a sideboard for serving. French doors open to a large stone patio and beautiful, park-like grounds.

The large, modern kitchen is literally a chef’s dream. It was designed and created by a chef and is now overseen by Chef John. He is happy to cook every meal for you, but you will not be banned from the kitchen. If you want to cook a meal, or make a sandwich for yourself, you are welcome to do so. Chef John will cater to your dietary restrictions and preferences and he’ll be sure there are leftovers for that late night snack!

The very large paneled study is upstairs. It has a large antique desk, leather wing chairs, painting by Scottish artists, a fireplace and wood floors. The windows look onto the lawns and the woods beyond.

The elegant drawing room is done in traditional British style. Two sofas and various easy chairs are incredibly comfortable.
There is original art, antiques, a games table in front of the bay windows. Colors are rich beige and gold.

An informal sitting room has a two comfortable sofas, a games table, a TV, VCR and DVD player, a fireplace, an Oriental rug over a wood floor. A large antique cupboard holds games and books. The original art in this room is modern.

The snooker room/library has lots of books for you to enjoy, easy chairs, a desk, a computer, ISDN, music, fireplace and great views.

The drinks room has everything for the cocktail hour(s). There’s a refrigerator, ice maker, bottles of whatever you can imagine. It’s a great area with beautiful cupboards. Yuri told us that some people put up a few chairs and spend the evening there!

The bedrooms are all sumptuous, comfortable, luxurious and private.

The China Bedroom has a queen bed, white bed covers, a small sofa, a tall antique armoire, a Dhurrie rug over gleaming wood floors, a fireplace, views of the woods. The hallway bathroom, opposite the bedroom, has a long deep tub with a hand-held shower and a large brown marble shower stall.

The Indian Bedroom has a queen bed with an ancient door as the headboard, a beautiful Indian tapestry on the wall above the bed, a chaise lounge, an armoire, an Oriental rug over tan carpeting. Another hallway bathroom has a shower and a separate room with a sauna, treadmill and massage table.

The Single Bedroom has twin beds that can be pushed together, an antique campaign chest, an armoire, wood floor. Walls are a soft greeny-gray. Woodwork and the fabric on windows and beds is crisp white. This is one of the smaller bedrooms. It's very charming.

The 4-Poster Bedroom has an antique standard double 4-poster bed, an intricately carved armoire, a chest of drawers, easy chairs, soft green paneling, a high ceiling, a fine, small Oriental rug over wood floors.

The Single Bedroom and 4-Poster Bedroom share a hallway bathroom that has an enormous tub with a hand-held shower and a separate shower stall. This was once a bedroom which is evident by the fireplace and fine wood floors.

The Master Suite is up the wide main stairway to the third level of the tower. It is almost a home within a home. The suite is very large and very private. The enormous bedroom has a king bed with white covers and an antique French headboard, a chaise lounge, poufy cushions on several chairs comfortable, a gorgeous Oriental rug in blue, brown and beige. Tall windows offer views are of the private golf course and the woods beyond that.

The suite’s private sitting room is very large and very elegant. The style is French and the tone is that of graciousness and comfort. A sofa and chairs are in gold and coral. These are complemented by the Oriental rug in red, blue, beige and green. A tall antique cupboard holds books and personal items. There is a fireplace (decorative only) a writing desk, views of the grounds from tall windows.

There are two bathrooms in the master suite, "his" and "hers". One has a large closet - really a "closet room", a dressing room, a shower stall. The other bathroom has a very large closet, a deep tub with a hand-held shower.

The Best Spare Bedroom is on the same level as the Master Bedroom Suite. It has a king bed with headboard covered with flowered fabric. There is a large antique armoire, a chest of drawers, a comfortable easy chair. The en suite bathroom has a long, very deep tub with a hand-held shower and a separate shower stall.

The Tower Suite is up the carpeted spiral staircase. There are two bedrooms in this suite. The Tower Bedroom has a queen bed with white bedcovers, an armoire, a desk and chair and an easy chair with an ottoman, light peach carpeting. The lush grounds can be seen through the stone work of the original balcony. The en suite loo has a toilet and sink, but not a tub or shower.

The Flowered Twin bedroom has twin beds that can be pushed together. The bedcovers are crisp white. There is a large armoire, a French chest of drawers, two comfortable chairs, matching wallpaper and fabric.

The Tower Bedroom and the Flowered Twin Bedroom share a hallway bathroom that has a deep, deep, deep tub with a great shower over the tub.

There’s air conditioning in this ancient building and a gym, a sauna and a steam room.

The Tower has a heated outdoor swimming pool and two tennis courts, one grass and one clay, and its own private "par 3" 18 hole golf course.

There are 45 golf courses within a 30 mile radius. St. Andrews is 40 minutes. Gleneagles is 30 minutes.

The small, pretty town of Blairgowrie is a few minutes’ drive from the property. Edinburgh is 60 minutes. Glasgow is 75 minutes. Aberdeen is 90 minutes. Dundee is 25 minutes. Perth is 15 minutes.

ACCESSIBILITY NOTICE:

This property is accessible to travelers who can manage interior stairways. There is guest loo on the main floor. The Tower Suite is accessible to travelers who can manage a steep spiral stairway and a bathtub that is quite deep and high.
